Absolutely. Trade away. Short term capital gains don't apply in the IRA; it's the place to do it. Online, quick, cheap trades make it possible. When you get some profits, buy some long term to protect the retirement, and play w/ the rest. No brainer.

IMO

Alex.

I have been thinking for some time that I might put my entire IRA online in one of the discount brokers

... that is exactly what I did in 1996, and then my wife did the same thing in 1997 - we have two on-line Schwab accounts ... Schwab has worked out well ... although I am starting to give some thought to changing brokers ... I trade both accounts for us ... I only make about 10-20 trades a year in both of them together ... we now have a futures account and also an options account with other brokers ...

... if you would like to talk, send me an e-mail (in my SI profile) and I will give you my phone number ...
