Pravin: On the bright side. AMD did demo an air cooled 1.5 Ghz Palomino last quarter.

THIS BODES VERY WELL FOR THE PROGRESS THAT THEY ARE MAKING ON PALOMINO.


Palomino may well feature a slightly lower voltage... maybe 1.6V or so (tbird uses 1.75V). That alone would give a 15% decrease in power consumption.

I think it's fairly realistic to expect a lower voltage. Even 1GHz and higher chips seem to work well at lower voltages. Duron voltage is 1.5V, significantly lower than the almost identical Athlon. Of course, the Duron doesn't have to scale to the same high frequencies...
