RE:"As I just posted, I'm hoping that the first Pally will be a 1 GHz notebook chip."

Wasn't the mustang/palomino basic core supposed to have power consumption reduction?
Hummmm...I thought Morgan was going to be the notebook chip and Palomino was the mustang with less cache...

John,

If AMD announced a 1 Ghz mobile Palomino in March, it would be a total coup, and I would be a very happy guy.

Pravin.

Petz, re: ...I'm hoping that the first Pally will be a 1 GHz notebook chip.

I think you just hit the nail on the head. The first Palomino won't be a 1.3 Ghz desktop, it'll be a lower mhz (±1ghz) mobile version. This would jive with my concerns about Jerry's CC comment of 1.3 this quarter followed by 1.4 and 1.5 palomino next quarter. The 1.3 is T-bird, but palomino still arrives this quarter, just in mobile form. This would make sense from a demand/price perspective too: where can AMD get the most money with a 1 GHz processor this quarter, desktop or notebook?

JJ

EDIT: Redundant. Pravin beat me to it.

P.S. Wow. Nice price action today. Somebody big is interested.
