Max pain worked pretty well in the rallies we got to drive stocks up to that level with a few days to spare. Normally there is not much movement after that. Fund buying, and squeeze the shorts etc has caused us to go well beyond max pain in most instances.

AMCC was an oddball to begin with, well above Max Pain at the time we started watching it. Someone is protecting those calls on AMCC, and will likely keep driving it higher.
If they take delivery of those shares, I have no idea how high it could get.

I did buy some RIMM puts as it does not seem to be participating in this over-exuberance.

But no real answer to your question.
