"Nortel Networks

Optical networking giant Nortel Networks (NT: news, msgs) came in at the Street's expectations, with earnings of 26 cents per share.

Nortel said it earned $825 million compared with $607 million a year earlier.

The Brampton, Ontario-based company posted a 24 percent gain in fourth-quarter profit from operations amid solid sales of fiber-optic and wireless equipment.
