While many of the comments are, at least from my perspective, derived from looking at all the trees and ignoring the entire forest, many of those comments are legitimate. The idea of regulating costs is precisely what is being attacked, therefore it is that target which will logically appear to be insensible. The insurance situation is a good example, but if I am not mistaken, the insurance companies were forced to do business a bit differently, eventually. As an example of examining a political hot potato from a more appropriate perspective, and remembering my comment about being certain to create the most hysteria possible when a political agenda is being pursued, consider the following: The last time CA had rolling blackouts was during a conference in San Fran which was to deal with power shortages. Convenient? This time the rolling blackouts occur during the Presidential inauguration week...Coincidental? I have seen bigger scams from the inside (CFC issue and the Ozone Hole) and it bothers me little to hear the legitimate arguments mixed in with the fluff placed into people's minds by the hysterical press releases and orchestrated agendas. Hopefully, you too will be able to discriminate the fluff from the facts as the events play themselves out over the next few months. In several year's time, perhaps you will have gathered sufficient material to mentally review my comments here and understand how those comments are derived from my experience with previous escapades dealing with corporate agendas, political machinery. Hopefully too, you will be able to understand your own interpretation of what I am saying is what leads you to disregard the gist of what I am saying. Nowhere did I say the People can legislate a company to go bankrupt; this is your interpretation of my comments. Thanks for the many factual corrections to my comments, I do not own a television and have only followed the current scam from headlines I read through the newspaper vending machine front windows. I know enough to see a scam without spending a quarter or fity cents. Oftimes I will spend the money just to see what new twist is being perpetrated this time, and what new 'scientific reasons' are being offered. Yes, I am experienced enough to have seen it previously in so many different forms that to me, it is almost lamentable to witness how predictable are the comments and righteous indignation generated by counter-suggestions to the Media-generated party line (eventually, I assume, as I get even older, it will become more than almost lamentable, for the policy and practices have not changed since pre-WWII). More relevant comments such as the insurance situation will offer a concrete guideline of what is to come. Hysterical comments such as snowpack and gas shortages may disappear, unnoticed, having done their jobs of incitement. To take it back to the basics, I see coercion more so than conditions behind the current power snafu. In a few year's time, perhaps I will be proven wrong. It is highly unlikely that much info will come out to support my view, but it will be there, and hopefully you will recognize it, take it under consideration, and allow yourselves to be better prepared for more correctly interpreting the next battle with all the finger pointing. It will come down to a simple solution; Money. Regards, Martin Thomas
