They probably know that an expanded middle class would be a huge boost to the economy, but they also know that the middle class will try to promote quaint concepts like the rule of law, from which the rich have been traditionally completely (and I do mean completely) exempt. Without that exemption their powers would fade and they would be no different than anybody else; they would rather rule a collapsing feudal state than be equal in a modern society.

Fools !! typical third world mentality... and collapse they will it is just a matter of time. can't they understand that if they do not yield to a reasonable policy they will be driven into the sea ? so typical it is amazing

Off the top of my head, population 75 million, mostly Catholic, Church is a major political influence. Population growth rate maybe 2.5%. 50% of population under age 15. Trouble coming, for sure.

more of the same.... yes, trouble is coming and the worst part is that most 3rd world countries are a mirror of the above... some more some less... but still

a few exceptions may be Argentina and Chile, (but there are other issues there, however the populations in these two are not as large and their growth are much less... i believe in the 1 % range Chile (14 mill) and Argentina (39 mill) Uruguay could be ok but it is too small...

amazing that (here we go again), the Catholic Church can't see past their Roman noses still.

I wonder what the hell is it that they envision...
most probably a version of a hellish earth of sorts. LOL !
