I read a really terrifically funny short story about a kid and his grandmother's dope, by the Sottish fellow who wrote Trainspotting, can't remember his name. Great stuff.

The kids will rebel, but probably in ways we have yet to imagine. I remain reasonably satisfied: my son (10) told me not long ago that he thinks the bible is "the biggest scam in human history". I didn't tell him that, honestly, though the hearty congratulations he gets from my circle of friends every time he brings home another C in religious studies may have passively reinforced the idea.

I think the deprogramming would be fairly easy. Sit her down with some video footage of Quayle, Gingrich, Helms, Bush Jr., etc., and trust that she learned something from you.
