It's also American history, no matter how effectively we disown it. The error was in the statement that American casualties in the Philippine-American war exceeded those of the Spanish-American and Mexican American wars combined. That is loudly and oft proclaimed as fact around here, but when I checked it - maybe I should add that when I wrote those I was living 6 hours drive from the nearest phone, which makes research more difficult that it is with an Internet connection - I found that it's not true. So it goes.
