Scumbria, RE: How many billions of dollars a month get spent on gasoline in Los Angeles? You could finance a first class mass transit system with less than one year's worth of gas savings. Not to mention the billions in savings in automobile repair and replacement. How much do the oil and auto related industries stand to lose if this happens? I take it, then, that you have zero evidence to back your rather harsh accusation.

People, especially Californians, love to drive their cars. They don't even like to carpool. Only high gas prices would curtail this or some other penalties.
