Congratulations on your Windows 2000.

I can see that you did not install a lot of Windows 98 apps. Many will not survive the upgrade to Windows 2000, and some will just behave as a non-NT program.

It's nice to hear, that you think Windows 2000 is the best, although it doesn't install on your machine without workarounds.

Don't buy a HP OfficeJet. The Windows 2000 drivers won't allow you to use the printer (or fax) if you use the Hibernate functionality. And then you have to shut the computer down every time you remove power. If you use an USB version, you can unplug the printer before each time your turn your computer off.

When you buy hardware, please ensure, that Windows 2000 drivers are included. Much hardware does not support Windows 2000, and even if Windows 2000 is supported, the full functionality of the hardware device may not. I did not succeed to have my 3D Sound Blaster soundcard give anything else than stereo with Windows 2000.

It's the same with Digital Cameras. Be sure that it works with Windows 2000 - there are a lot of cameras out there that don't work well with Windows 2000. I have a Kodak DC 290 - it works OK, but only with workarounds.

If you want hassle-free installation, you will have to return to Windows 98. But then your files are again not very safe when crashing.
