Merrill Cuts Micron Forecasts On Inventory Issues (MU)

(NewsTraders.com)--Merrill Lynch analyst Joe Osha commented Tuesday that his
research reveals that Micron Technology (MU) has become "significantly more
aggressive" in its push to reduce its DRAM inventory, prompting him to slash his
fiscal 2001 earnings and revenue estimates for the semiconductor memory company.

Osha lowered his fiscal 2001 EPS estimate to $1.42 from $2.86 and cut his
revenue forecast for the year to $6.2 billion from $8.2 billion.

Despite the reductions, Osha held his ratings on Micron at intermediate-term
"buy" and long-term "accumulate," commenting that he feels a weak spring is
already priced into the firm's stock.

The analyst added that Micron's market position is unchanged.

Micron has nearly a quarter's worth of inventory that it is looking to take off
its balance sheet, Osha said.

Shares of Micron were recently up $0.37 at $38.65.
