me too- no way would I leave my kids alone with ANYONE I did not absolutely trust. And the number of people I trust is very very small. Some of it depends on age- my 11 year old is as big as a grown woman. If she were in a group of 8 girls on a camping trip with two adults, I would have very few worries about her. She knows how to protect herself. I have told her about abusers and the language and tricks they use. She knows not to believe anyone who tries to manipulate her into docility and compliance with fear and threats. Is she absolutely safe? No, no one is. But with good judgment (mine and hers) and care I am optimistic.

My 6 year old I would be much more careful of. I would not leave her alone in a brownie troop led by two men, or let her go camping with same. I won't let either of my kids sleep over where there are older teenage boys I do not know, and where the mother is not home. It is mere prudence.

I would be perfectly comfortable with a lesbian mom being my daughters brownie troop leader since I would know at all times another parent would be there with her.
