rick

you sound like a geek to me, partner.

"If all else fails I'll read the Dell owner's manual"

not to overstate the obvious... but imo the manual is a good place to start, not end up. especially for battery info. if you haven't cracked the dell manual, you're going to be pleasantly surprised.

then there's tech support. even if you're out of warranty, as you know, dell provides lifetime tech support.

not-so-humorous aside.... although when i last spoke to a dell tech about a cd-rom drive replacement question, in the course of the conversation the subject of defragging came up and he said that with the way they're making hard drives so big these days, there is absolutely no reason to ever defrag one. LOL! i had to shake my head to make sure my ears weren't stuck!! i kinda' probed a bit and he reiterated this assertion, and i just elected to let that go. but shocked? definitely! i think he must have been one of those outside hired help guys. maybe he used to work at a quicklube joint or something, but his info was way wrong!

glad you're keeping us posted here

:)
