Well the Tripp case is a little different. She HAD a permanent Job in the Whitehouse but was given a political appointment in the Pentagon. Clinton wanted to fire her but whistle blower laws would have been violated.

Now as a political appointee, she is asked to leave, as is the case 99.9999999 % of the time.

I believe that if she remains fired, she will have an actionable case against the government.
