DMC Stratex Networks Secures Initial Order for the Supply
Of Altium to CyberTron in Austria

Order Provides Leading Austrian Broadband Service Provider With
Bandwidth Efficient and Cost Effective High-Capacity Wireless
Service Connections

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- DMC Stratex Networks (Nasdaq: STXN - news),
one of the world's foremost solutions providers for cellular applications and broadband
wireless access, today announced that it has secured an initial order from Kapsch, DMC
Stratex Networks' partner for Austria, to supply its award-winning Altium(TM) 155-Mbps
wireless access product line to CyberTron Telekom AG in Austria for its high-capacity
broadband network expansion requirements.

CyberTron, the first and fast-growing independent alternative telecommunications company
in Austria, is providing advanced broadband services including voice, data and Internet
services to business customers. It is the market-leading provider of broadband services
in Austria. This initial order for Altium from Kapsch totals $1.7 million.

``DMC Stratex Networks, as the leading wireless broadband access solution provider, and
with its strong partnership with Kapsch, Austria's largest and most established turnkey
service provider, was the best choice to provide our extensive broadband network expansion
needs,'' said CyberTron's Michael Kastelic, technical director.

``We are pleased to provide high-capacity wireless communications networks for CyberTron,
a company leading the Austrian market by providing voice, data and ISP services, and fixed
network telephony for subscribers switching from the incumbent monopoly, Telekom Austria,
to alternative providers,'' said Sam Smookler, DMC Stratex Networks president and CEO.
``This strategic announcement furthers our position as today's preferred wireless access
equipment provider for worldwide networks, and demonstrates the immediate value of a
spectrally efficient solution such as ours. In total, we have shipped more than 6,700
Altium radios to customers worldwide since we introduced the product line two years ago.''

Altium is designed to meet the demanding requirements of high-speed wireless access networks,
delivering data, voice and video in wireless systems operating in frequencies from 6 GHz to
38 GHz. It provides, exclusively, the most spectrally efficient SDH STM-1 (155 Mbps) capacity
in the market today, allowing carriers to dedicate less of their available and costly licensed
spectrum for systems deployment. Altium uses high-density 128 QAM modulation to deliver 155-Mbps
wireless fiber-like access capacity in only 28 MHz of radio frequency bandwidth. Recently Altium
won the fixed wireless solution Product of the Year Award for 2000 from Internet Telephony
Magazine, and was named a 2000 Best of the Best Award finalist by InternetWeek based on a
published independent product evaluation.

CyberTron Telekom AG with its subsidiaries is a privately owned telecommunications group.
Since 1996, CyberTron has been offering nationwide data transmission services in Austria,
