Cirrus, Re: Pentium 4 wins Microprocessor Report's Best PC Processor Award

LOL! You got me for a second. Let's see if Athlon (Palomino core) can make a triple next year.

All,

First of all congratulations to everyone who stuck with AMD and condolences to all who were forced out or got out a little to soon, I was forced to sell some leaps and cap my upside a little to avoid a margin call so believe me my condolences are sincere.

Anyway, Switching gears in mid stream...I play a monk in Everquest and I was searching for hints and tips about some of my new skills when I came across this thread on a 'monk' site. Obviously it piqued my interest due to my vested interest in AMD so I started reading. The original poster was asking for opinions on whether he should get an AMD processor or an Intel processor and was eventually convinced by almost every subsequent poster to get an AMD processor.

The thread is kind of long (21 posts) but I thought it was incredibly interesting and well worth the read. I have known for a long time that perceptions of AMD were slowly changing but I was frankly amazed by how many people "got it" in regards to AMD and how few Intel fans piped in to make counterpoints. What really makes it interesting to me is that this is not an investor board. The posters may have had personal biases but so do all customers so I thought it was a valuable peek into genuine consumer sentiment (at least in the gaming community, I know,I know... you don't have to tell me that AMD has always catered to the gamers) Anyway take it for what it's worth.
