As a matter of fact, yes, some people do have to buy new tv's if they want to take advantage of new technologies like DVD's.

No, although a new HD TV with the wide screen (theater) format would work a heck of a lot better. The DVDs all come set up to play in the theater format (cutting off the top and bottom of the TV screen and effectively reducing the size of your screen. Some have the option to view in the regular TV format.

I know what you are getting at, and I think the answer is that like Win2000, a new TV / PC / Server might work better, but isn't necessary in most cases.
