Jack,

EPA is still working on 3 to 20 ppb possibilities. Christin Whitman's excuse of pulling the 10 ppb standard was "there is no POU device in the market and the science is not convincing". It is the biggest joke I have ever heard in a long time. She knew EPA forbid water utilities to use alternative POU devices to avoid spending hundreds of millions to fix the treatment systems. No filter company will develop a product if no one wants it. What was the arsenic MCL in New Jersey when she was there? I heard it was 10 ppb. I need some one to verify this for me.

Actually, from what I heard from the filter industry the cheapest way to solve the arsenic issue is POU. Now, once utilities are allowed to buy POU for their customers the filter industry will have cost effective products on the market. It is just the matter of reward and time required for technologies to mature. I believe the practical solution will be available for the market before this year ends. We will see. My search tool is on alert all the time. I will let you know when the POU is available.

Regarding whether US Filter benefit most by the new low arsenic standard. It will depend on how low it gets, how big the market they can penetrate and how good is their technology. We won't know until the gates open and the horses are running. Good luck.

Sincerely,
Wade
