Mike, i think your strategy is excellent, as an alternative or combination with qcom i might suggest something like ballard power or some of the small cap biotechs/medicals discussed elsewhere ,i.e. a duramed / vaso combo.

what about silver in your port ? you don't want to join the burgeoning hecla club ? gg

I bought some TVX this week. My first gold stock ever. Lots of bang for the buck in terms or gold reserves per dollar of valuation. Price less than a fifth of tangible book value. It's selling at around half its cash per share. Their Greek mine is probably going to be approved in the next month or so, and it's very low cost. Cons: apparently not very well run. But Mario Gabelli bought some a few weeks ago, and maybe he will push management to shape up a bit.
