Andy - I couldn't disagree with you more.

While both parties and their candidates have ties to the "corporate socialist state", the candidate who stole the election will devote a substantial part of his energy over the next 4 years to appointing other judges (like the ones who appointed him) who would cut off the ability of individuals to access the courts in order to take on powerful interests. His "election" (and I use that term very loosely) virtually ensures that for the next 20-30 years, those who are fighting for justice and fairness in the midst of powerful corporate interests will have even greater obstacles to achieving either justice or fairness. Just look at who is gloating the most over this -- the NRA, the health care industry, the oil industry, the religious right.

Those who turned their back on Gore during this election in the name of left wing principles contributed to the circumstances that made it possible for Bush to steal Florida and with it the election -- which may well leave us with a 30-year legacy of radical conservatism on the US Supreme Court. A tragedy to your point of view, if you ask me -- though not to the right wing pod people who seem to dominate this place.
