I support the regulation of business- because business has a huge capacity to harm.

One person probably won't be able to devastate a large area, or produce millions of widgets that can injure consumers- but a large business can.

It is my perception that conservatives wish to regulate individual behavior and not corporate behavior- when in my opinion the emphasis should be the exact opposite. I think using bribes from the state to get people to do things is fine- grants for education for example, but criminalizing behavior because you want to inflict your world view on other individual people seems wrong to me. It is impossible to prove either position correct- I would just prefer to live in a world where corporations are carefully regulated so they do not cause undue harm (harm that is often in no way reflected in their costs, harm that our society will pay for down the road), and where individuals are free from criminal laws that stem from religious morality. I think Steven said at some point there were things almost everyone agreed on- murder, burglary, robbery, extortion, blackmail- easy to support these things being criminal. But drugs? Prostitution? Abortion? I don't think so.
