Recently, on this thread, a few posts discussed some downloaded utilities for managing favourites and bookmarks. You may want to investigate this. It could save you a ton of effort.

P.S. I don't have much experience using these. I downloaded a Nav to IE converter, used it once, and removed it afterward, but that was well over a year ago when I upgraded my system. As I remember it, the thing worked as claimed. (No grief)
