I've heard that it is a good idea to keep a whistle next to the phone if you are bothered by obscene callers. Just blow it as loud as you can next to the mouthpiece, they'll probably never call back.

In Ontario , Canada, where I live...

All that is required to tape a phone conversation, is one of the parties has to consent..

So...in your situation...your wife could say...do you want me to record? You say yes..

And it is legal...
