James, I don't have the answer, but I am sure your idea is at least as valid. I have a couple of friends who tried the Hollywood game, and a couple (including family) who currently work behind the scenes. From what I understand, proclaiming Republican values is like asking for directions to the bread line. Why this is I don't know, but after you get power you can do your own thing. Including marrying a Kennedy -g- HAGO TH I don't have too many, but the stories my family member tells me about that biz are pretty interesting. He got fired (actually the entire crew was fired) after working on the first season of one of the top ten shows of the 90's. Yea, the producer got a bigger budget for year two, and hired a whole new team to bring it up to the next level. The show got renewed and everyone who made it a success got their walking papers. Strange world it must be.
