Subject: Norton SystemWorks [FAST AND SAFE - 01/16/2001]

[from tipworld.com. i ran the below mentioned program just now and freed 10.96mb. i was quite surprised.]

FAST AND SAFE

by Mike Hogan

"Your PC isn't too different from your cupboards or toaster oven--dust,
detritus, food particles, and other stuff just builds up. There are so
many bits and pieces of programs loaded and unloaded and floating
around freely that no-longer-needed code just piles up in the nooks
and crannies of your hard drives.

Norton Fast & Safe tidies up after you--or actually, after the sloppy
way Windows and its applications operate. That has become especially
important since the advent of Web browsers, whose operating
methodology makes Windows look like a neat freak.

To perform a Fast & Safe cleanup, select Norton CleanSweep from the
Norton SystemWorks main window and the Cleanup button. Click Fast &
Safe Cleanup to have it scan for specific file types that are safe to
remove, such as the temporary Internet browser cache and Recycle Bin
files.

When the scan is complete, the Fast & Safe main window appears,
showing you the amount of detritus you can clean up from each hard
drive."

<<3 months ago Dell sent me (free) a full install of ME and after doing a clean install have not had one problem with it.>>
What do you mean by a "clean install"?
TIA

Thanks Ed, it's good to hear feedback, whether positive or negative, from someone who is actually using the operating system.

Nice to hear that it works for you.
