Hey Douglas,

<< Hopefully QLogic can find the curl on that wave, and several other subsequent waves. >>

Yes, as one of the last ones standing in the FC race, Qlgc has a very good chance to surf the big wave again. I like Qlgc for their component strategy and hope management can win deals to keep growth strong. Nice quick summary btw.

I wish I could get yours and others opinions/thoughts on a couple questions re; our current storage world.

1. Does the recent acquisition by BRCM of ServerWorks (which makes high performance I/O intergrated circuits) make BRCM a direct competitor/threat to QLGC and if so how much of a worry is this for q in your opinion?

2. I don't follow Mcdata well at all and was wondering if you (Gus?) could possibly make an interesting scenario where they took on Brcd (actually hurt them)? Brcd clearly to me 'looks' like they have so much momentum here shooting up from the FC low end and they are growing employees like a mad cactus. These guys are like building up their defenses massively when don't even have strong competitors...yet. I'm not sure but I don't think the last THREE standing in the FC switch area...QLGC's SPG or Mcdata or Inrange are growing anywhere as fast and thus nor they are nowhere near as prepared to do battle on the field, R and D wise, etc...down the line in the next years) Now, I have heard the new 2 gig transition is a completely new world (Brcd won the 1 gig one) and that Brocade is behind in creating a strong director, but one has to admit that Brcd has a significant advantage here (even if people think they're arrogant) bc of their 1 gig master play and installed base/mindshare so far...

thanks for any thoughts,
pigboy
