So the quandary is that no SP wants to promote the fact that they have holes in their coverage that G* can fill, but that is conversely one of the major G* selling points. Then who do you get as an SP? How about this for a WAG... what about Rupert Murdoch and News Corp? Last I checked, they weren't hurting for cash... how about Blackstone brokers a deal for News Corp to buy Vodaphone and any other SPs "exclusivity" and gateways? You then lose the conflict of interest in promoting the service coverage, because News Corp isn't a cellular operator (at least I don't think they are...).

If you're going to come back with "News Corp doesn't know how to sell mobile service...!", it can't be any worse than the current support we're getting, and they'd probably be amenable to something like Maurice's wacky wireless pricing scheme, given the dismal failure of the current setup. The kicker is that at the same time, News Corp buys a larger chunk of the system meant to support IFN, and reaps additional rewards as a result.
