The incremental improvements of the DDR device over SDRAM will fall short of the memory performance required by systems using the latest processors. . Today’s RDRAM devices meet the requirements of the >1GHz PC.


DRAM performance has two components- latency and bandwidth. DDR beats RDRAM at both. That is why almost everybody is designing around DDR.
