Arun, Craig Mccaw owned and operated many regional CellOne markets. He later turned around and sold his wireless properties to AWS and SBC, if I am not mistaken.

Anyway, he knows how to operate and manage a mobile business and if you substitute former CellOne properties for Globalstar Gateways, then the difference is only one of scope and scale. The difficulty is that Mccaw may not be up for it unless existing, uncooperative SP's are forced out.

I don't know about combining the two technologies though, as Nextel is primarily a push to talk 6 timeslot TDMA animal. New dual mode G*/TDMA phones would be required...As a first cut, perhaps a modification of the military single mode push to talk secure system could be made. Just as in the current Nextel system, fleet calls would be at a big discount while person to person connections would have a premium tagged on.
