The Florida law that allowed selective hand-counting without standards violated the Equal Protection clause. If Gore had asked for a state-wide re-count from the beginning, it would have eliminated at least one major issue.

The Supreme Court regularly invalidates state and local laws that violate the U.S. Constitution or the Supremacy clause. There's nothing so extraordinary about a law being invalidated when it is put to the test. I'm sure there are many more invalid laws out there, some are on the Court's docket now. Others haven't been tested, yet.

It's not sad at all that Bush challenged an unconstitutional law, which was indeed ultimately found to be unconstitutional. Not only was Bush vindicated, but it was a great day for America that helped clean up our voting system. Some of us take additional pleasure, in that it invalidated a fundamental part of the decades-old Daley election-stealing machine. Very fitting that a Daley was intimately involved.

Dear, mst2000 the three counties that SORE wanted recounted are now recounted and President Bush won. So one can conclude that Sore is clueless as to the technical process of counting. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, .... Damn I've run out of fingers. Joe, Joe, I need you to give me a hand. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, no no I need your left hand first. Ok let's get Bill, Joe says, "NO WAY his fingers are always sticky" And so the recount go on in the democrat institutions that house those who try to steal an election by the ole five finger recount.
