The Bush administration will be pressed to come up with a quick solution to the energy crisis.

"Due to increasing consumer demands and aging power plants,
California has increased the amount of electricity imported to
it from neighboring states, such as Washington, Oregon, and
Arizona. But the reliance on electricity imports might only be
a stop-gap solution. The capacity required for receiving
out-of-state power is not expected to grow until 2007.
Meanwhile, California’s neighbors face increasing demands of
their own. "

Washington and Oregon are experiencing low rainfall and low snowfall this winter so expect the power shortage to continue.
