US Embassy Report IIII.

If India's share of WLL in underdeveloped countries is estimated to be 13% or around 5-6
then the world wide wLL market is apx 40-48 million units. This is before 1XRTT which doubles network voice capacity at little added cost -- thus significantly reducing the cost of air time and eclipseing air time cost of competing WLL systems such as TDMA and DECT.

""The potential for U.S. exports is enormous. Since, PACS
implementation and operational costs are much lower than GSM and
other PSC cellular systems, it can provide low cost expansion of
telecommunication services. Just in regional PACS sales, the
potential to U.S. exports could be USD 100's of millions annually.
There will be additional goods and services generated which could
mean additional revenue. The average price per subscriber in the
year 2000 and beyond is assumed to be USD 800. According to
"Wireless Local Loop - Opportunities in the Global Marketplace",
India's market share is estimated to be 13.5% of that in the
developing countries in the wireless local loop arena. These
figures pertain to equipment only. The market potential for
services is estimated to be an additional 20-30%.""
