stockycd:

"Lots of low end (<1 GHz) Intel junk inventory to get rid of or is Intel partnering with lots of advertising space?"

When both AMD and INTC managemen have agreed that the P3 has pretty much run its course, that probably signals, to most vendors with any survival instincts anyway, that they'd better unload P3 inventory ASAP...I'd suspect you're dead on in your assessment given that P3 is dead meat...Both are contributing factors, although I'd hazard a guess that the prospect of hanging on to "low end junk inventory" is scaring the daylights out of some vendors and hence the seeming panicky effort to unload it while any value remains...

Notebook ads are 100% Intel at various prices. If it weren't unimaginable, I'd conclude demand was outstripping supply for Athlons while PIIIs weren't selling. They must be clearing out 100/200 FSB Athlons prior to releasing 133/266 parts. It also looks like the truce is over and the price war is on for PIII.
