I love animals of all kinds, but it isn't a silly doting kind of "love". I genuinely find them intriguing as fellow creatures. Where I hike and ride my bike they let cattle graze to help control the weeds and thistle. I actually saw a little steer who was curious and playful, following us around and prancing. I'd never seen that in cattle. I've seen it in squirrels, horses, birds, dogs and even cats. If the notion of soul isn't contained in the notion of play I don't know where it would be!
