My mom has a adult retriever cat(it is a Siamese) - truly.

I believe you. I had one, too (Persian). I once threw the wadded-up paper liner from a cupcake at him and was shocked to see him bat it around a bit and bring it back. Pretty soon he was retrieving regularly. I used to throw something on top of a tall bookcase wall next to which I had a climbing pole. He'd climb up the pole and across the top of the bookcase, pick it up, climb back down the pole and bring it back to me. Well almost. He'd always drop it just out of arm's reach. But then, what can you expect from a cat?

I've been amazed to watch crows at the local McDonald's pick open the discarded bag, fish out the clam shell, get it open, and find the goodies. Critters are cool.
