Alcatel Arms Software Consulting Incorporated With Strong Voice/Data Convergence Offering

BusinessWire, 01/22/2001 08:04

LISLE, Ill. & CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 2001--

On-site training and live demos will complement sales and support of

award-winning Alcatel OmniPCX 4400

Alcatel (NYSE:ALA) and Software Consulting Inc. (SCI), a leading consulting service specializing in high capacity telecommunications equipment, today announced that SCI will sell and service the Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 and Omni family of data products to enterprise customers.

SCI has been providing telecommunications consulting services, concentrating on high capacity equipment such as transmission and switching, since 1989. SCI's expertise spans the entire product lifecycle, including development, network design deployment and technical support.

As an Alcatel Business Partner, SCI is authorized to sell and provide technical support for Alcatel's entire line of voice and data convergence products catering to enterprise customers. The award-winning Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 and Omni family of data products are designed to support the rapidly converging worlds of voice and data while allowing enterprises to migrate to an IP-based voice and data network at their own pace.

"Alcatel's technology allows SCI to move beyond our consulting business model and complete the network deployment lifecycle," said Christee Snell, president of SCI. "We're excited about the Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 because it removes the barrier of voice versus data, and allows the customer to have a singular communication network solution."

To allow better understanding of the capabilities of Alcatel's enterprise convergence technologies, SCI's Lisle headquarters will house an Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 demonstration facility. SCI's customers will be able to see and use the Alcatel OmniPCX 4400 on a live IP-based network and also receive on-site training at this facility.

"SCI has proven their commitment to strong client relationships, providing flexible and creative telecommunications consulting services to thousands of customers throughout North America," said Sergio Gemo, Alcatel vice president, North America sales.

"With the increasing need for enterprises to develop quality convergence strategies, Alcatel looks to expand its distribution channels with business partners such as SCI with proven expertise in the voice and data market."

Alcatel OmniPCX 4400
