RE:And of course you are aware that the more education one has, the more statistically likely one is to be an atheist?

No, I wasn't, can you point to your source for your assertion? Anyway, I thought this thread was about politics, not religion. Why do you bring this up here?

E!! Thank you for the lovely poetry by Stevie Smith ...

...re my solicitation for material to include in the eulogy I'm preparing for Allie, 13-year-old yellow lab.

You too, 'blandbutmarvellous.'

I should explain that she is not even my dog! Belongs to my neighbors. This dog means so much to so many people ...

Her owners both have large, extended families here who have known Allie her entire life ... this entire neighborhood loves her as well ...

All of these people are wonderful folks. Some are Republicans ... isn't that a shocker? LOL!! Funny ... we never even discuss politics unless it's directly related to investing ... even then, there are no 'vehement emotions' that result from such conversation.

I want to prepare for the inevitable day when we lose Allie. She's not ill at this point (well, she has arthritis and lifelong skin allergies, things like that) ...

My eulogy will likely take the form of a weekend afternoon 'wake.' Hopefully outdoors on the front lawn at my house. Followed by open bar or champagne brunch or something like that.

We living humans are going to need that closure, as you and others have mentioned.

When that dog dies, probably more than 100 people are going to grieve our loss of her ... I'm not kidding.

If I ever get better at figuring out how to post within SI JPEG photos, I'll put some up of her.

Thanks again for clueing me in to the poetry and poets!
