11:44 20-JAN-2001 China Telecom denies swapping with C&W for PCCW shares Pacific Century CyberWorks (0008-HK) shares soared sharply by 8.8 pct yesterday on rumours that PCCW has found a buyer for Cable & Wireless Plc's 7.4 pct PCCW shares which lock-up will expire next month. China Telecom, the mainland's dominant mobile phone operator, is rumoured to be the white knight who would swap its new shares to be issued in its Q2 listing plan for C&W's PCCW shares.
