This notion of open the skull to increase blood flow and experience transcendence is done by VERY CARFULLY removing a small piece of bone. It is done in a number of cultures (such as the Mayan). I actually knew someone who was investigating this as something she might actually consider. It is called trepanation and is certainly different that driving an icepick in with a ball-peen hammer.

It was really funny.
I hope the next ballpene hammer to the head joke gets thrown your way. And I hope it gets made by someone clearly hostile to you, on a thread you don't post on (and can't post on). You guys make such a fuss about what is said on the liberal porch- when nothing that offensive is said by anyone on it. There was one offensive post about GZ that I can recall (not made by me)- there have been dozens made about me on the RWET. You have a magnificently large double standard going there. DO you really not see the hypocrisy inherent in what you just posted? Perhaps myopia is part and parcel of being a RWE?

edit- but thank you for reinforcing my prejudice that some men (especially, it appears, RWE men) are violent and creepy predators- and especially vicious toward women.

Yes, it was a joke. Of sorts. The particular sort is the hypocritical sort that recommends the following shortly before paying obeisance to ideals of genteel discussion (of such subjects as Shakespeare) and bemoaning ever so loftily the wicked descent on SI into incivility:

we could try that "third eye" method, but
in this particular instance I would strongly recommend using a ballpene
hammer and an ice pick.....

I see that you're right. It wasn't a threat. It was a recommendation.

(I am aware that it was facetious, of course. And mightily amusing.)
