Joan , thank you for the precisions and nice personal account. The family i worked for a long while ago had very similar background although for about 3 or 4 generations. I understand a fair bit about farming i think and certainly that the most fail safe way of farming is what you have described. Solid assets accumulated through generations, conservative and intelligent management, hard work, and a little bit of luck doesnt hurt either. I still maintain that the subsidies should go however. sg
