Imagine an individual walks into a McDonald's (or any other public place), draws an automatic weapon, opens fire, and kills 8 to 10 innocent people in front of dozens of witnesses before being overpowered and subdued. Bland believes such an offender should be put to death. He sees absolutely nothing wrong in the idea that such an action should be punished. Punished as harshly as possible. He sees no virtue in preserving the perpetrator's life, for any reason whatever.
