You're correct about the figures, I believe... for sure, not only is there substance abuse, there is also substance misuse..... there is both abuse and misuse even for legally prescribed medications..... the laws are there to protect society from those abuses, even the abuser... I don't recommend it, but there is no crime for getting drunk at home, but public drunkenness is certainly a violation of a municipal ordinance, at least... DUI is yet another issue... I think the penalty for DUI, or any controlled substance legal or not, needs to be made much stiffer... the fact that the driver was drunk at the time should not mitigate the crime, it should aggravate the crime and increase the sentence... therefore, I agree with your point which was very well made.....<g>

You have a good point and drinking and driving is against the law as it should be. Question, how many car accidents do you think there would be if pot, heroin and all types of barbiturates were made legal?
