The reason Bush picked up votes is because the charges leveled by dems were bogus in the first place and because you had an honest evaluation of the ballots instead of a partisan democrat evaluation.

They did. You see, AlGore and his minions - including the partisan Dem FL Supreme Court - determined to hand count only the most Dem precincts of Dade, despite the fact that FL law required full and not partial hand counts.

A full hand count of the rest of Dade, the parts Bush carried, was always going to favor Bush if done honestly.

It's not odd at all. The initial "cherry picks" were the most heavily Democratic precincts. It was all down hill from there.
