Jan, I don't know about our resident wiz's but you go girl, just remember....cash is KING at the end of the day...the shorts should continue to be effective when all the trading is said and done.

Jan, This is an interesting way to play. I think that some brokers will cancel out your shorts when you go long. IE you can't be short and long at the samme time. I believe Schwab won't allow this. Correct me if I am wrong. Otherwise your idea could have some usefulness. Best wishes, N1

this is essentially shorting against the box. This is also essentially the same strategy which Jim Hopkins uses to rope off his USPIX positions (using QQQ rather than individual shares).
