Bland is a bit reluctant and embarrassed to confess that after reading your post...several times...the sense he keeps getting from it is that if we ceased to execute violent criminals, we would then be able to convict more of them. Partly because their attorneys won't try so hard to defend them.

Surely that's not precisely what you meant. Perhaps you could rephrase your argument a little?
