Verve, Oceania is ME! lib.utexas.edu

There is plenty of CDMA in Australia, where it is battling GSM. Analogue is now switched off there. I don't think there's any TDMA in Australia.

In NZ, we have TDMA, Analogue, GSM and CDMA is being installed and is under test as you read this. It will start service in May, run by Telecom New Zealand.

Oceania is Globalstar country. Though there is only Globalstar in Australia at present. When there are plenty of users, or Globalstar figures out how to run the business, then gateways will be installed to cover Oceania.

Vodafone is planning one for north of Auckland [New Zealand] which will cover nearly to New Caledonia and a circle of that radius around Auckland, reaching Sydney! With one in Fiji and a few other places, all of Oceania can be covered.

Philippines would be a good place! One is also planned for Hawaii. Tahiti would cover the eastern part. One on Easter Island would be nice too [off the map towards South America]. Alternatively, they could be covered from a Dubbo gateway if there is a higher altitude constellation built. There is a lot of marine traffic, cruise ships, air traffic, vacations and need for telecommunications in Oceania where normal systems are impractical and expensive.
