I don't know- are they calling people names? Making insinuations about the nature of other people's sexuality? Have they made weird sexual innuendos and talked about hunting people down? Are they making jokes that involve bodily injury to people? If so I absolutely agree that that is gang warfare of the most insidious and despicable sort. It's just terrible. Please give me a list of the posts and I will reprimand them most severely. I think all sorts of brutal activities like that should be stamped out. And by sheer mass- do you think the two sides are equal in this gang warfare that you speak of? (I wonder?)

I am unclear where you think I have defended X by attacking others. She defends herself quite efficiently on her own and I feel no need to defend her when she seems to engage willingly in these battles. She knows my feelings on this; we're friends and we respect each other's points of view on our individual "rules of engagement". You may be confusing my objections to what I see on RW with a defense of her, but it has nothing to do with X and everything to do with an increasingly unhealthy atmosphere that has moved from political disagreements to an obsessive, hate-filled and unrelenting personal attack on one person by a group. Group behavior of this sort has always made my skin crawl.
