Actually, the state was Oklahoma...and the movie was (shudder) An Officer and a Gentleman (ok, I looked it up on the IMDB).

Just from memory, that was Sgt. Emil Foley, (played by Louis Gossett, Jr.) who was speaking to Sid Worley (played by David Keith) in An Officer and a Gentleman, (1982) but, as typical of your posts, it was "Oklahoma" NOT Texas, but keep up the good work.
