I can't. I can't imagine being afraid to tell them about anything. I wish MY mother had said there might be men masturbating in cars driving around asking girls for directions. She never mentioned that.

People in committed relationships loving each other- who cares what sex they are as long as they are consenting adults? I don't support predation of the young by either sex- and it is certainly rampant among heterosexuals. That is my main concern for my daughter. That and date rape.

<< Can you imagine being afraid to say to your child, "lesbians are women who love women?" >>

This seems somehow inadequately explanatory. The Search needs to be narrowed.

Your joke reminded me of a true story. When my sister was asked by her young son where babies came from, she told him the prepared-in-advance lovely story of his conception and birth. It started with loving and planting a seed, went on to the Daddy's role, the development in the mother's womb, the trip to the hospital, the happiness when he arrived, taking him home from the hospital.....

At the end, he said, "Now tell me anudder about a big addigator."

This nephew of mine's wife is newly pregnant with their first child. I'll have to tell him this story.
